Our Story

Established in 1991 by Russell Lowe, Eyetech Optometrists began on Grattan Street, proudly serving the Carlton community and beyond. From the outset, Eyetech developed a strong reputation for excellence in eye care, with a particular focus on specialty contact lenses. We were one of the first practices in Australia to prescribe orthokeratology lenses for myopia management.

In 2013, Jessica Chi joined the team and became the practice owner in 2014, working alongside Russell until his retirement in 2021. That same year, Eyetech relocated to its current location on Lygon Street, marking a new chapter for the practice.

Victor Liu joined the team in 2021, followed by Jamie Atkinson in 2024. Today, our three optometrists work collaboratively with practice manager Ross Liddell and our experienced dispensing team to deliver personalised, high-quality eye care tailored to each patient.

Eyetech is widely recognised for its advanced provision of specialty contact lenses for a broad range of needs—including keratoconus, post-surgical and post-trauma cases, myopia control, high prescriptions, paediatric care, and sports-related vision correction. We also take pride in offering a curated selection of beautiful, unique eyewear. Our frames are individually selected to suit your personal style, because we believe your eye care and eyewear should be as individual as you are.
